Tri Ridge (called "Mutter Ridge" by the Marines)
see-sawed back and forth for weeks in the fall of 1966.
Only blind luck determined who lived, and who died. In
this photo, Marines drag their wounded and dead brothers-in-arms
toward a Huey from VMO-2. Note that all of the vegetation
has been stripped away by artillery and air strikes. |
